From wakesurf lessons on Lake Osborne to sunset cruises on the Intracoastal, here's how to spend a day on the water in Lantana and Lake Worth Beach.
If you live in Lantana or Lake Worth Beach — or you're visiting for a long weekend — you're sitting on some of the most underrated boating water in Palm Beach County. We're not the flashy part of the coast, and that's exactly the appeal. Glassy morning lakes, a laid-back Intracoastal, and sandbars where nobody's in a hurry. As a local captained wake-boat operation, we spend nearly every day out here, so let's walk through the best ways to actually get on the water.
Lake Osborne, tucked inside John Prince Park, is where a lot of our mornings begin. It's protected, it's usually calm before the afternoon breeze fills in, and it gives beginners a forgiving place to try wakesurfing or wakeboarding for the first time. You can spend an hour learning to get up on a board, then coast the shoreline and watch the ospreys work. The park itself has picnic areas, walking paths and a campground, so it's easy to build a whole half-day around a session here.
People assume you need to be athletic or young to wakesurf. You don't. Behind an inboard wake boat with the ballast filled, the wake is big, clean and slow — we've had riders from age eight to seventy up and surfing on their first outing. Our captain drives, coaches, and hands you the rope; you just follow directions and hang on. If you fall in love with it (most people do), the local authorized MasterCraft dealer, South Florida Marine, is a good place to see what these boats are all about down the road. For now, all you need is a swimsuit — we bring the boards, ropes and life jackets. You can see the full lineup on our charter and lessons page.
When you want to slow the day down, the Intracoastal Waterway is right there. From Lantana we can idle up past the mansions of Manalapan and Hypoluxo, drop the music, and post up at a sandbar to swim and grill out. It's the classic South Florida day — feet in the water, cooler open, no schedule. Bring snacks and drinks; we'll help you pick a spot based on the tide so you're standing in knee-deep water instead of chasing an anchor.
Few things beat a Lake Worth Beach sunset from the water. Our two-hour Sunset Cruise ($449 per boat) is the easiest, most crowd-pleasing thing we offer — bring your own drinks and a Bluetooth playlist, and we'll time the loop so you're out on open water as the sky goes pink. It's a favorite for date nights, anniversaries, and out-of-town guests you want to impress without much effort. The historic Gulfstream Hotel in Lake Worth Beach makes a great before-or-after dinner stop if you're building an evening around it.
Coming in from out of town? You've got easy options right by the water. The Holiday Inn Express Lantana keeps you minutes from the ramp, and Lake Worth Beach has walkable spots near the downtown strip. If you want a full itinerary for the area — beaches, food, events — the official tourism site for The Palm Beaches is a solid place to plan around. We're happy to help you slot a charter into whatever else you've got going that weekend.
You don't have to do all three in one day, but you certainly can — and plenty of our repeat guests do.
Whether it's your first time on a board or your fiftieth sandbar day, we make it easy: you show up, we handle the boat, the gear and the driving. Take a look at our charter experiences to pick your session, or text Captain at (561) 475-8615 with your dates and group size and we'll get you booked. And if you're a boat owner curious what your own wake boat is worth — or thinking about selling, trading or servicing it — that's the other half of what we do at Palm Beach Wake Boats. Either way, we'll see you on the water.
We run on Lake Osborne inside John Prince Park, on nearby Lake Ida, and on the Intracoastal Waterway depending on what you want to do. We'll confirm the best launch and water for your group when you book — text us at (561) 475-8615.
None at all. Behind our inboard wake boat the wake is big and forgiving, and our captain coaches you through every step. We've had first-timers from age eight up standing and surfing on their first trip out.
Our two-hour Sunset Cruise is $449 per boat. You bring your own drinks and playlist; we handle the boat, the timing and the driving. It's our most popular easy evening on the water.
