Wake Boat Charter FAQ: Your Top Questions Answered

Everything first-time riders ask before booking a captained wake-boat charter in Palm Beach County — experience level, group size, weather, pricing, and more, answered honestly.

We talk to a lot of first-timers, and the same great questions come up again and again. So we pulled them together in one place. Whether you're planning a bachelorette weekend, a family day, a corporate outing, or just a sunset cruise to impress out-of-town guests, here are honest answers to the questions people ask most before booking a captained wake-boat charter on Lake Osborne, Lake Ida, or the Intracoastal.

Do I need any experience to ride?

None at all. The whole point of a captained charter is that we handle the boat and coach you through it. Your captain sets the wave, controls the speed, and gives you real, patient pointers. Plenty of our guests get up on a wakesurf board for the first time in a single session. If you just want to cruise and never touch a board, that's perfectly fine too.

How many people can come?

Our charters are priced per boat and comfortably fit a group of friends or a family. When you book, tell us your headcount and we'll confirm capacity for the boat and the water we're running. Because pricing is per boat, bigger groups get a better per-person value — a big reason charters are so popular for parties.

What does it cost?

Straightforward, per-boat pricing: a Sunset Cruise is $449, a 2-hour Wakesurf Session is $549, a Half-Day is $899, and a Full-Day is custom-priced. Each includes the captain, fuel, and all gear. You can see the full breakdown on our charter experiences page.

Where do we actually ride?

We run three kinds of water so we can match the trip to your plans: Lake Osborne in Lantana (great protected morning glass for surfing), Lake Ida in Delray, and the Intracoastal through Palm Beach County (perfect for sunset cruises). We'll confirm your exact launch point when you book — often near a park or marina. If you're visiting, The Palm Beaches tourism site is a great way to plan the rest of your stay, and John Prince Park on Lake Osborne is a beautiful spot to know.

What happens if the weather's bad?

Florida afternoons can bring pop-up storms, especially in summer. Safety comes first — if the weather won't cooperate, we'll work with you to reschedule to another slot. We keep an eye on conditions and the FWC boating guidance, and we'd always rather move your trip than give you a soggy, lightning-shortened day.

Is it good for a bachelorette or special event?

It's one of our most-requested trips. A full-day on the water — surfing, tubing, a sandbar stop, and a sunset finish — is the kind of centerpiece a group talks about for years. If you're building a whole weekend, planners like Bach Me can slot the charter into a full itinerary. Corporate groups love it as a team outing too.

Where should out-of-town guests stay?

Anywhere central to the water works well. In Delray, boutique options like The Ray Hotel put you minutes from Lake Ida and downtown. Wherever you land in the county, we'll help coordinate a launch that's convenient to you.

How do I book?

Reach out with your date, group size, and what you'd love to do, and we'll recommend the right package. Summer weekends and sunset slots go first, so earlier is better. Grab a spot on the charter experiences page or text and call (561) 475-8615.

What if I want to own a boat, not just charter one?

We do that side too. Beyond charters, we run a wake-boat valuation, sell, consign, trade, and all-brand service marketing service. If a day on the water turns into "I want one of these," get a free, no-pressure wake-boat valuation and we'll help you think through buying, financing, and what fits your life. Either way, the best first step is simple: come ride, and see what you love.

Danny Bivins — Owner & Captain

I own and captain a MasterCraft X30 out of Lantana and ride Lake Osborne, Lake Ida and the Intracoastal just about every week. This guide comes from actually owning, riding and chartering these boats here — not a content mill. Questions, or want to come ride? Text me at (561) 475-8615 or book a charter.

Frequently asked

Do I need experience to book a wake boat charter?+

No experience is needed. Your captain drives, sets the wave, controls speed, and coaches you through it. Many first-timers get up on a wakesurf board in a single session, and cruising-only guests never have to touch a board.

How much does a wake boat charter cost?+

Pricing is per boat: Sunset Cruise $449, 2-hour Wakesurf Session $549, Half-Day $899, and Full-Day custom-priced. Each package includes the captain, fuel, and all gear, and covers your whole group.

What happens if the weather is bad on my charter day?+

Safety comes first. If conditions won't cooperate, we work with you to reschedule to another slot rather than run a shortened or unsafe trip. Florida's summer storms are usually brief, and we monitor conditions closely.

Where do the charters launch?+

We run on Lake Osborne in Lantana, Lake Ida in Delray, and the Intracoastal through Palm Beach County. Your exact launch point is confirmed at booking based on the water and package you choose.

Can I get a wake boat valued or sold instead of chartering?+

Yes. Alongside charters, we offer wake-boat valuation, sell, consign, and trade services, plus all-brand service marketing. Start with a free, no-pressure valuation at collaborativeconceptsfl.com/wake.
