Who you're dealing with

Gatekeeper is a family business owned by John Tonkery, operating out of 6179 Foster St in Jupiter. That's not a marketing line — it's the practical difference between us and a lot of the fence outfits advertising in this market. When you call, you get someone who will actually be involved in your job. When there's a problem, there's no layer of dispatchers between you and the person who can fix it.

Plenty of fence companies come and go around here. We've been at it since 2007, through the hurricanes and the housing swings, largely on repeat customers and their neighbors.

How we work

• We look before we quote. No per-foot phone estimates. Access, grade, soil, and existing structures change the number, sometimes a lot.
• One price, whole job. Posts, concrete, hardware, gates, the permit, and hauling off the old fence are in the quote. We don't discover things halfway through.
• We'll tell you not to buy something. If your fence needs a repair instead of a replacement, that's what we'll recommend, even though it's the smaller ticket.
• We clean up. Old fence hauled off, concrete spoil removed, the yard raked. You shouldn't be able to tell we were there except for the fence.

Licensed, bonded, and insured

We hold Florida contractor license #U-21206 and we carry bonding and insurance. Ask to see that from any contractor before they dig on your property — it protects you if something goes wrong, and a contractor who hesitates to show it is telling you something.

What we do

Residential and commercial fence installation in wood, vinyl/PVC, aluminum, and chain link; pool safety barriers; gate installation; and repair work — leaning fences straightened, rotted posts replaced, broken pickets swapped, storm damage put back together, and gates re-hung. We repair fences we didn't install, which is a large share of what keeps us busy.
